The following is a true story:
A woman in Dubai was raped in a hotel. She went to the hotel staff and said "I've been raped! Call the police!" The hotel staff responded, "are you sure you want to call the police...cuz when the police come, nothing good happens." The woman says "Yes! Call the police!"
So the hotel staff calls the police. They arrest the man who raped her. They also arrested her. She got a longer sentence. The crime: extramarital sex.
Well, since the woman was from somewhere in Europe, she called her country and her country called Dubai telling them to let the woman go. After some back and forth that probably included threats and such, the woman was released from the Dubai prison and returned to her home country.
The moral of this story: always listen to your hotel staff. They know what they're talking about.
You really don't have to make shit up these days. It's a wild world. http://thelede.blogs.nytimes.com/2013/07/22/norwegian-woman-sentenced-after-reporting-rape-in-dubai-is-pardoned/?_r=0
